PREPOSITIONS – Edatlar

İNGİLİZCEDE EDATLAR (PREPOSITIONS)

e, a, içinde, dışında, önünde, altında, yer, yön ve zaman vs bildirmek için kullandığımız kelimeler vardır…
Örneğin; okula…. to school (to, burada a… anlamında kullanılıyor)
for me; benim için, with my son: oğlum ile gibi….

Bazı önemli edatlar ve anlamları aşağıdadır;

IN : İçinde

Use ‘in’ with spaces:
in a room / in a building
in a garden / in a park
Use ‘in’ with bodies of water:
in the water
in the sea
in a river
Use ‘in’ with lines:
in a row / in a line
in a queue

AT : de / da

Use ‘at’ with places:
at the bus-stop
at the door
at the cinema
at the end of the street
Use ‘at’ with places on a page:
at the top of the page
at the bottom of the page
Use ‘at’ in groups of people:
at the back of the class
at the front of the class

ON : Üstünde

Use ‘on’ with surfaces:
on the ceiling / on the wall / on the floor
on the table
Use ‘on’ with small islands:
I stayed on Maui.
Use ‘on’ with directions:
on the left
on the right
straight on

IMPORTANT NOTES (ÖNEMLİ NOTLAR)
In / at / on the corner : Köşesinde
We say ‘in the corner of a room’, but ‘at the corner (or ‘on the corner’) of a street’
In / at / on the front :Önünde
We say ‘in the front / in the back’ of a car
We say ‘at the front / at the back’ of buildings / groups of people
We say ‘on the front / on the back’ of a piece of paper

FOR … bir zaman dönemi ile birlikte kullanılır … bir şeyin ne kadar süre ile olduğunu belirtmek için.

for three weeks : üç hafta … I will stay in Ankara for 3 weeks (Ankara’da 3 hafta kalacağım)
for many years : çok seneler … I worked in England for many years. (İngiltere’de çok seneler çalıştım)

WHILE : …. ken diye kullanılır, bir fiille beraber. Genellikle fiilin “ing” haliyle kullanılır (while I am sleeping / ben uyuyorken)

while I was watching TV … televizyon seyrediyorken
while I lived in New York … New York’da yaşarken

DURING : esnasında / sırasında

during class : ders esnasında / sırasında
during my vacation : tatilim sırasında
during the discussion : tartşma esnasında /sırasında

Yer ve Hareket için kullanılan edatlar :

IN : statik fiiller ve şehirler, ülkeler, devletler vs için kullanırız (bir yere gitmek için kullanmayız örneğin)

in the USA : ABD de … I will stay in USA (ABD de kalacağım)

work in New York : I will work in New York (NY da çalışacağım)

at the cinema : sinemada .. I will meet her at the cinema (Sinemada buluşacağım onunla)
at work : işde
at home : evde

TO . e / a … to Ankara (Ankara’ya)

go to work : işe git ..
drive to California : Kaliforniya’ya git arabayla (sür)

Özel Not :HOME

home : ev demektir .. Home ile go/come/arrive vs .. yani eve doğru hareket fiillerinden herhangi birini kullandığımızda “to” kullanmayız.
I come home (Eve gelirim)
He will go home (O eve gidecek)
